2025 is just around the corner. While major parts of Asia have entered 2025, Europe and the Americas are bracing themselves to usher in the new year. Last week, we covered 2024 from a lens on sports, technology, and politics. The 2nd part will cover some more interesting facets which bring in most of the money into the economy.

Entertainment and Business are the 2 biggest pillars which determine the way the year goes ahead for any economy or even the world. The world of entertainment and business had umpteen things to talk about which influenced the year but there were some that really stood out.

Business

1. Amazon is not a quick commerce leader: 2024 was a year which made the world realise that irrespective of the size of the company, one needs to be on their toes to succeed. Amazon’s lackadaisical approach toward quick commerce has resulted in it ceding ground to quick commerce players in India and Southeast Asia. This was a stark reminder that Amazons and Microsofts of the world can be challenged and rightly so.

2. IPO season across the world: Despite a bearish market, there were IPOs a plenty across the world. Companies are going on a fast turn to show themselves profitable even if they bear the brunt of the public after going public.
