Will the Wars ever end?

The era of 1930s and 1940s were conflict ridden as World Wars enraged the world. As we headed into the 21st century, it was evident that fighting terrorism will be the highest priority but wars between countries was becoming a matter of yesteryear. Enter 2022 and another war broke out between Russia and Ukraine. The world leaders and the public paid close attention and it was thought that the matter will be resolved soon. Fast forward 2 years and the conflict are still ongoing with both countries on the offensive. On top of that, Israel has also entered a war like situation with Gaza and now Iran. Even though World War 3 has not broken out yet, the recipe for such an event is brewing up fast.

Last week, 2 significant events happened which indicate that the conflict between countries is not ending soon. On the Israel front, an all-out missile attack was launched on Iran killing 39 people in Iran who were thought to be proxies for the Palestine group. On the other hand, Ukraine has reshuffled its cabinet in a quest to go on further offensive as Russia ups its ante as well in the invasion effort. These events make one wonder if the wars are going to end soon and increases the curiosity on the longevity of these conflicts which have typically been closed out within a year.

So, why are these wars ongoing and will they ever end?

1. Opportunity to establish world supremacy: Both the conflicts are an opportunity for Russia and Middle Eastern regions to establish world supremacy instead of the United States of America. USA is fragile with growing unemployment and upcoming elections, and this allows countries like Russia to continue their onslaught to show who’s the boss. Similarly, Middle Eastern countries have often been subdued but this act of aggression is a way for them to unite and establish their dominance on the globe.

2. The religious conflict: The Israel-Gaza conflict has been escalated to a religious conflict as well with middle eastern countries coming out in full support of Palestine. At the same time, USA is also warning Israel against evasive action owing to their proximity to the Arabic nations and the will to maintain equality.

3. Ability to affect world trade: Both the ongoing conflicts are not ending as each side has a leverage on the world trade which allows other countries to think twice before intervening. While Russia controls gas and palm oil supply, Israel and middle eastern region influence the oil supply along with the technological acumen that Israelis bring to the table.

All this may indicate that these conflicts are only going to rise. The harsh reality is that the wars are not going to end very soon. United Nations will ensure that World War 3 does not break out, but individual wars are going to become a part and parcel specially where one country wants to assert dominance over the other. African nations could very well be the next target along with the Southeast Asia countries which remain vulnerable as ever to Japan and China.

The best way to mitigate and eliminate such instances of war is to take evasive action and allow United Nations to step in from the very beginning to maintain peace, law, and order.
