Indian politics ecosystem has been going through a lot of commotion since the Hindenburg report exposed Gautam Adani’s corruption and malpractices. His close association with BJP has led to a furor in the Indian parliament. PM Narendra Modi’s and BJP’s alleged link with Adani, the businessman, has led many to believe that there is a tinge of nepotism going on leading to Gautam Adani being protected. It is worth remembering that every 2nd service in the country has Adani associated with ranging from airport to electric power. This effectively proves Gautam Adani to be a powerful agent who can make or break governments.

While it is normal for the people of India and politicians in India to point out to this link and the furor was on expected lines, the last one week brought another twist in the tale. The comments by George Soros created an uproar as it indicated the perception of these allegations in the world of business outside India which could heavily influence trade relations with multiple countries specially, the USA. This week, at the Munich Security Conference, George Soros claimed that Modi and business tycoon Adani are close allies; their fate is intertwined, and it would pave the way for institutional reforms calling for a change in government.

George Soros is a Hungarian American investor who is known to make or break government not only by his comments but by his actions. He manipulated British economy back in 1992 or even went to the extent of manipulating the public in 2011 by funding the Anti wall protest which caused chaos in the United States. In short, he is a born investor who manipulates markets to manipulate government and that is what he intends to do by coming into India. The presence or interest of George Soros in India only spells doom as per hearsay. George Soros is a threat to India and can cause extreme dichotomy. It is more about understanding the extent of damage he can cause and the rationale behind such skepticism in Soros influencing the Indian public.

1. The expert influencer/shorter: George Soros is a world renowned shorter (from a market’s perspective), but he is known to leverage this in exchange of a new project or future investments. He is known to topple the economy and governments base don his knee. His antics in England and United States in the past indicate that there needs to be a certain level of wariness in the same.

Verdict: Stay safe from Soros

2. Unaffected vote bank: The comments and activities of George Soros certainly indicate something fishy, but his thought process and allegations are way past the understanding of people in rural areas and the vote bank politic is very strong in these areas to be able to allow any other external influence into the picture.

Verdict: BJP and India need to be wary of his allegations, but the votes are not changing anywhere owing to the demographic factors

3. Global standing: George Soros is a world renowned businessman and he can often speak for the world of business at a global level. His distrust with the existing government can lead us into an endless loop where India’s global standing from an economic and political perspective be slippery. The truth behind the allegations must be uncovered and justified so that global organizations and trade partners are aware of the impact it can have for India at a global scale.

Verdict: Stay safe from Soros and have all evidence to indicate any false information.

4. Profit/Loss for Indian business: Every business runs on profit and loss, and this can come from more investments and interest from people outside India as everyone in India is busy right now. Dismissing George Soros as a joke like the BJP is doing could totally cut off any potential deals that may come in the way of India business. Indian business leaders are on a treacherous path to choose between the security of Indian government or the support from George Soros to build their business and empire. Any negative vindication could seriously hurt the business.

Verdict: Diplomatic approach with George Soros to ensure politics and business don’t get impacted badly

There can be many more whistleblowers like Edward Snowden, George Soros, Hindenburg that could come up and ask. This will only lead to an increase in the uncertainty in the government and cause politicians and businessmen to be more careful to account for any issues that may come up in the beautiful journey between George Soros and India. Only time will tell whether the Soros dichotomy with India goes away or there is another twist in the tale. All we can say is that there is relevant exposure, and it is time for politics to take a front seat and explain everything in detail and simple language for the families.
