Indian Cricket: A new university in the making?
India is a cricket fanatic country, and fans worship the sport and superstars in good times. In the bad times, the players and the team also face the wrath of the fans. Such is peculiarity of the following that million people can gather to see the cricketers holding a world cup trophy. At the same time, the whole nation can unite to pass on derogatory remarks on the crickets in bad times. One thing that has stood for the players is the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The board has always stood by its players and thought in its best interests. They have allowed the players to live their lives and given them perks on away tours as well by allowing families to join and special food catered to their taste buds.
Well, 2025 is about change all of that. With a dismal tour of Australia and a shock series whitewash at home against New Zealand has resulted in adverse steps being taken by the cricket board. With increased scrutiny on the leeway given to senior players, BCCI has made it a point to make Indian Cricket Team like a university with strict rules. Some rules that have now come into effect are as follows.
