The world is meant to be a peaceful place allowing the coexistence among species. There is sufficient coexistence across species, but the homo sapiens in 2024 cannot catch a breath when it comes to disrupting peace. 14th April marked another busy weekend as Iran ended up firing over 331 missiles towards Israel as a retaliation for the alleged bombing of the Iranian diplomatic complex in Syria. There were no casualties reported owing to Israels anti-missile defense system, but the bombings and conflict seems to be never ending and Israel seems to be making more enemies by the month.

Israel is already at loggerheads with middle eastern nations owing to the atrocities in Gaza. Iran has openly supported pro Palestine movement and the Houthi rebels from Iran have made the maritime transportation from Suez Canal a nightmare. The continued aggression from Israel has called on UN resolutions and US to ask Israel to put an end to this war. Things were moving in the right direction, but the wrong chord for Israel has been stuck and the conflict laden 2024 is soon going to become even more fiery. Every conflict has brought its fair bit of challenges on the supply chain impacting the import and export of goods and adding to the inflation woes, but the new conflict arising out of Iran is going to bring a new set of challenge.

The sufferers being air travelers as the air space can potentially be impacted heavily if the conflict ensues. Let’s understand what impacts the humans with this new sense of retaliation by Iran towards Israel

1. More Airtime -> Higher Air Fares: A lot of flights fly over Iran airspace when flying to Europe. The ongoing conflict makes the airspace dangerous, and flight could take a longer route which could increase travel time by almost an hour. This would indicate more fuel to be burned and translating into shooting air fares. In fact, flights from this Saturday towards Europe are already 30% higher vs normal price.

2. Crude Oil deficiency: Iran is a big exported of crude oil and this also dictates how the stocks market’s function. With the upcoming conflict, there could embargos sanctioned on Iranian trade which could impact the oil prices and push the stock market towards a downward blip.

3. The Strengthening of the Middle East: Such conflicts are only strengthening the unity of Middle East and could very well be the beginning of the establish of a strong alliance of power in a similar manner to how USSR was defeated.

Time will tell whether Israel puts an end to their aggression and bring peace upon Gaza and Iran, but such ongoing conflicts only make us wonder whether Earth is really a place to survive if every week comes with a new conflict between countries. Maybe it’s time for humans to become extra terrestrial and shift to Mars.
